In 2022, Elliot Smith founded Big Darby Forestry Consulting LLC. Later that year, he expanded the business to include arboriculture, that is Big Darby Tree Services LLC. Today they are combined entities.

As a Certified Arborist, Elliot assists homeowners in preserving their trees that provide shade, beauty, and value. As a forester, Elliot helps private landowners with their woodland management.

Elliot finds great value in community and is highly involved in the forestry profession. Elliot serves as chair of the Ohio Society of American Foresters He is also on the Ohio Tree Farm Committee. Elliot recently joined the board of Green Columbus, a local non profit that aims to activate volunteer engagement, foster resilient communities, and increase canopy equity in Columbus.

Elliot has previously been involved with the Ohio Interagency Fire Crew serving Ohio, California, and Montana.

Elliot believes that credentialing is important when choosing who should work on your property. Elliot is an ISA Certified Arborist, ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualified, and one of the first SAF Certified Urban and Community Foresters in the county.
